Russia Calls in Sweden's Senior Diplomat
Swedish Chargé d'Affaires J. Soderberg was called to the Russian Foreign Ministry, where officials registered a forceful objection and insisted that Sweden fulfill its commitments under the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
Moscow pressed Swedish authorities to "identify the perpetrators behind the systematic attacks on Russian foreign missions" and guarantee their prosecution.
The ministry's statement revealed the July 5 incident featured a drone releasing a paint container onto the mission's premises.
Russia emphasized that the ongoing targeting of its diplomatic facilities creates significant concerns about Stockholm's capacity—or determination—to maintain diplomatic safeguards.
"These attacks have continued for over a year, and appeals to Swedish police and the Foreign Ministry have yielded no results," the Russian side previously stated, cautioning that Sweden holds complete accountability for the circumstances.
Russian diplomatic establishments in Stockholm have encountered multiple incidents, including acts of vandalism, since the launch of the comprehensive war in Ukraine in 2022.
